The Texas Women’s Healthcare Coalition (TWHC) submitted recommendations to the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) regarding their Legislative Appropriations Request for the 89th Session. Rachel, our amazing Women’s Health Policy & Advocacy Coordinator emphasized the need for enhanced funding to improve maternal health, combat rising syphilis cases, and restore HPV prevention efforts. Key recommendations include increasing support for the TexasAIM program to prevent maternal health complications and advocating for sustained cross-agency efforts to address the surge in congenital syphilis. TWHC also urged the restoration of funds to the Adult Safety Net (ASN) program for the HPV vaccine to prevent cancers linked to HPV.
